this one sounds lofi on purpose….I listened to Bad Moon Rising and Swell Maps recently after years of not hearing those records and rediscovered how much I really like the lofi sound of them. As much as I enjoy recording on a computer and being able to edit stuff, I also like the sound of lofi so that is why this release sounds a bit different….


Song #1 Propeller Man. well, there is this guy who rides by on his motorbike holding a 6 foot long propeller up with one arm to "test it out"…. keeps riding back and forth, making adjustments…. my wife tells me it is for a huge kite, which makes sense as people here in Bali are really really into kites…. i like to think he is a just a propeller freak with a really cool obsession…. i dig the propeller man and often try to get a recording or a photo…the propeller sound is at the start of the song…other sounds are kites, a dog, wind, kids, motorbike and at the end is "the vaxx lady" who was speaking over a loudspeaker the day they were vaccinating in the village we live in…. my wife tells me she was telling people not to be lazy or stupid and to do the right thing…sounds like she's telling people off…i hope she tours…
2. prophet's profits shrinking…my new phone makes interesting distorted recordings of drums played too loud and too close… i love it… .this is a short collage of songs I do sometimes based on just making stuff up on the drums and recording it all live and connected…then adding stuff over top later….sometimes it works out really nice… other times it ends in total disaster…
3. hearts and minds… it breaks my heart the sad state the U.S. left Afghanistan in…. i'm not saying we should stay longer or should have gone there at all…just saddened by what is now happening and about to happen…

6. shit from a new notebook (name inspired after the Minutemen's "Shit from an old notebook") Mike Watt's picture is still on my wall… a hero, to be sure… I recently listened to one of his (3 hour!) radio shows with Joe Baiza…another hero… Joe didn't start playing guitar until 27!

the title "a shaky sense of diction" is from an Eno song… I am on a kick…again…Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy) has become a daily medicine that I gladly take…
